Glasgow songwriter/singer (as he describes himself) Steven writes superb songs, sings them, and sometimes does other people's songs as well. He writes songs of the human condition - from immigration to Irn Bru, politics to pies. He wrote the award-winning anthem (All Jock Tamson's Bairns are) Coming Home which has been covered by many artists. Expect a wonderful, entertaining night.

Josie Duncan & Pablo Lafuente

Friday 29 March 2019

Josie Duncan is a young folk singer from the Outer Hebridean Isle of Lewis. Having been immersed in Glasgow's fast moving traditional music scene for the past few years where she studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Josie's crystal clear voice is equally at home in Gaelic, Scots or English. This year Josie was awarded BBC Radio 2's Young Folk Award alongside guitarist Pablo Lafuente. The duo are released their debut album at this year's Celtic Connections festival. Josie is also the singer in 'Inyal', an innovative band combining intricate traditional instrumentation and Gaelic song with subtle electronic loops and beats.

With self-penned and traditional songs, she also performs as a soloist, self-accompanying on the clarsach (celtic harp). Her approach to song offers many nods to the traditional but always feels modern, with a voice which is somehow delicately soft and yet rich and powerful at the same time. Josie has toured extensively over the past year performing at venues and festivals across Europe, Scandinavia, Canada and America.

"Effortlessly pure, supple vocals. It felt like a fresh breeze." - The Scotsman.

Chris Cleverly

Friday 31 May 2019

Award winning songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist Chris Cleverley is renowned for his ability to mesmerise audiences with his haunting tales of ghost women, lonesome clock towers, lovelorn mariners and hospital beds.
Chris’ trademark solo live sound is at times likened to the magnitude of a full orchestra to only moments later pull audiences to the very edge of their seats to soak in the delicate spider-like touch of his fingerstyle guitar playing.

His critically acclaimed debut album ‘Apparitions’ sailed into The Telegraph’s top 70 folk albums of 2015, while national music press heavyweights such as Acoustic Magazine, fRoots, R2, Maverick and Folk Radio UK encouraged readers to keep a close eye. Since winning Bristol Folk Festival’s 2014 ‘Isambard Folk Award’, Chris’ national presence has grown exponentially, gracing BBC radio airwaves and the stages of top UK folk festivals.

A truly singular and innovative artist of the new British Folk Scene; Chris Cleverley is a name to remember.uperb guitar and song.
