Tich Frier

Friday 30 June 2017

We have managed to lure Tich out of retirement at short notice for this date. A big voice from a wee fella, Tich brings a great repertoire and humour to every gig. It's been a while since we've seen him at Partick and we're delighted to have him back.

Jenn Butterworth & Laura-Beth Salter with Carla Feuerstein!

Friday 28 June 2013

Jenn Butterworth (vocals / guitar) and Laura-Beth Salter (vocals / mandolin) hail from award winning female super-groups The Anna Massie Band and The Shee.

In 2009 they formed an alliance through a music residency in the Blas Restaurant, Glasgow, which turned into a three-year musical journey with fellow collaborators Hamish Napier, Adam Sutherland, Steve Forman and Innes Watson. Along the way, they were joined by an array of creative Glasgow musicians from both the folk and jazz scenes, turning a friendly jam session into a regular evening of inventive, expressive, spontaneous music.

After singing together weekly for three years, the pair took to the stage in January 2012 for Laura-Beth’s New Voices commission ‘Breathe’ as part of Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival.

Over the years, the girls have developed a deep musical affinity between them. Their voices blend to create soulful harmonies, and both accomplished instrumentalists play tune sets full of drive and character.

Carla Feuerstein

From her home town of Bochum to busking in Buchanan Street German singer songwriter Carla Feuerstein has been immersed in folk music from an early age. Growing up in a musical household has had a huge influence on her musical style having been in constant contact with musicians from the UK and North America who have worked with her father. Carla's love for folk music stems from her experiences at home and she became eager to discover German Folk Songs and Tunes that had been lost or fell from popularity in recent times. Carla now lives in Glasgow and is actively working as a performer and sound engineer for acts like The Paul McKenna Band.

Carla's family band 'Die Feuerstein's' are looking forward to releasing their album "Lieblingslieder" (favourite songs) which will be out July 11th 2013! The album holds a good mix of Traditional German songs, Bluegrass and songs written by Carla's father, the wonderful Guntmar Feuerstein!
